Hi! I’m Annette Zimmerman, aka Anni Z, and I enjoy creating through art and prose. I was born among cornfields in the Midwest, have lived on Long Island on the East Coast and in California’s Central Valley on the West Coast, and have traveled across much of the United States. Of all the places we’ve seen, East Tennessee felt the most beautiful to my husband and me, so we promptly moved here.

I have a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, but retired in 2016. In 2021 I was diagnosed with cancer, and underwent extensive surgery and chemotherapy. I’m now happily enjoying life in remission.

This site is my creative home base. It holds studio notes, reflections, nature observations, writing fragments, finished pieces, and whatever else seems worth gathering before it disappears into the great unknown.

Here you’ll find notes from my creative practice, including drawing, painting, nature journaling, writing, creative recovery, and the ongoing work of building a life with room for wonder.

You can also find me on Substack, where I share occasional notes from the studio and the borderlands of everyday life.

Thanks for visiting.
