The 100 Day Project https://www.the100dayproject.org/
This is the fifth year for a social collaboration called The 100 Day Project. It’s goal is to get you into the habit of making something for 100 days in a row. What can you do in 100 days? Just about anything you want. Every day after you create your art you take a picture of it and upload it to Instagram to share it with the world.
I found a good explanation/prompt in last year’s announcement at https://thegreatdiscontent.com/100days.
The project was inspired by a grad school project for graphic design students at the Yale School of Art. Students were encouraged to tackle a “bite-sized” project every day.
I decided to take this on because it gives me something to draw that isn’t very large or complex. There are some days when I don’t feel like doing any “work” on my skills. And it’s easy to let one day slide into two or three or more, until suddenly a whole week has gone by and I haven’t accomplished anything. Many of the online artists I admire recommend doing something small every day in order to keep in the habit without a huge time commitment. It gets you going and keeps you going even on the days when you just don’t want to.
The 100 Day Project fits perfectly for that purpose.
So I created a handmade 4.5 x 6 inch journal specifically for my project. I figured that if I was going to do this, I’d make it something special. My theme is “Things I’m Thankful For” and every day I’m drawing a little doodle of something I’m glad I have in my life. You can follow my progress on Instagram at #anniz100days
And if you’d like to participate, jump in! It’s never too late to get started.
