Notes: Completed May 27, 2020. Based on a childhood photograph of me at about age two.
I enjoyed working on this portrait, partly because it was a drawing exercise and partly because it’s one of the three or four baby pictures that I have of myself. I look like I was very happy the day this one was taken!
After seeing the drawing, my aunt sent me an email. She liked the drawing and wrote about the dress I was wearing in the picture, a story I’d never heard before. I enjoyed making the portrait, but the best part came afterward, when my aunt saw it and shared the story of finding and buying that little plaid dress for me.
