This is just a little something that came into my head while I was doing my weekly cleaning. I thought I’d share it along with a couple of recent practice watercolor pictures. It seemed appropriate to add a picture with some kind of water subject, hence the koi. But the coneflower seemed like something you’d find hanging in a bathroom, so it’s included, too.
I hope you enjoy them!
A Prayer For Cleaning the Bathroom
Hello, bathroom.
There are a million other things I could be doing right now
A million other things I’d rather be doing right now
But it’s time to clean the bathroom
And here I am.
Hello, shower.
As I wipe down your walls and sponge your door
I am thankful for your luxury
It’s a glorious thing to have a place to wash
And relax under a flowing stream of clean water.
Hello, toilet.
As I scrub your bowl and polish your handle
I am thankful for your presence in my house
You provide a comfortable place to perform necessary functions
And keep my home sanitary.
Hello, mirror.
As I polish your surface and dust your frame
I am thankful you are included in the bathroom
Ready to remind me that change is ever present
And that each moment is a gift.
Hello, sink.
As I clean your basin and wipe your fixtures
I am thankful you are ever ready
With soap and water to wash my hands
And keep myself and my family healthy.
Thank you, bathroom
There is nothing else I could be doing right now
Nothing else I’d rather be doing right now
Because cleaning the bathroom is a privilege
And here I am.
