Pumpkin Night at the Oak Hill Schoolhouse

Ink and watercolor painting of Oak Hill Schoolhouse surrounded by autumn trees, with a glowing doorway, pumpkins, and a child carrying a pumpkin accompanied by a dog.

Medium: Pen, Ink and Watercolor
Size: 7 by 10 inches
Notes: From my own reference photo

Inspired by my own memories of autumn nights in childhood.

Built in 1886, the Oak Hill School was originally located in Knob Creek, Tennessee (now absorbed into Johnson City). It was closed in the 1950s, and when commercial construction bought the property for a retail shopping, the Jonesborough/Washington County History Museum saved the school from demolition.

Today it stands near the Heritage Alliance headquarters in Jonesborough, surrounded by trees.

I wrote a blog post about this artwork that you can read here.
